Too Big To Fail

Andrew Ross Sorkin (2009). Book completed on January 13, 2022.

Verdict

Sorkin's recounting of the 2008 financial crisis was a gripping and captivating read. I found it difficult to put down, much the same way a great thriller film is difficult to stop midway. The described secret meetings between C-level players in the financial world serve as a fascinating look into how shadowy and secretive high level financial cabals conduct themselves.

As an aside, I found it funny to look up the actual appearances of the CEOs and government officials involved afterwards (and some pictures are supplied at the end of the novel). With how the book is written, it's easy to imagine them as Hollywood-esque, but the reality is much more mundane!
